If you really want to see a gig why don’t you just do it regardless of whether someone wants to go with you or not? Um, 1. Transportation 2. It’s not as fun going alone. 3. As a petite female, I’d be worried about my safety going alone. There’s the not-as-important issue that if I’m in a mosh pit, I don’t have anyone I can depend on to pull me out if shit gets ugly. And more importantly, unfortunately, I live in a society where there’s this mindset of “Oh, she was leaving somewhere in the middle of the night and was all alone? She was pretty much asking to get raped.” Maybe other people have the luxury of being able to go places alone. I don’t. I’m a petite female and I would easily go to a concert alone. Music is worth it. I’d just bring a weapon. When I was 23, I flew to NY by myself to go see Sonic Youth play all of Daydream Nation by myself. (PS. I’m a “petite girl.”) It was fucking awesome and it’s totally in the top 5 best live shows I’ve ever been to. It really doesn’t matter if you are with someone or not; music is a personal experience that can be shared, but doesn’t have to be. Besides, you are already sharing it with everyone at the show. I remember there was this dude beside me who was also alone, and we ended up looking out for each other and singing along to songs together. I never saw him again. It was fuckin great. “Just bring a weapon” - wtf.
